Pizzeria Gallo d'Oro, nestled in the heart of Cagliari on Via Dante Alighieri, is celebrated for its authentic Neapolitan pizzas that boast fresh ingredients and expertly crafted dough. This small but vibrant eatery is a must-visit for pizza aficionados. Many reviewers highlight the necessity of booking ahead due to its popularity, ensuring you secure a comfortable spot rather than a small table at the counter.
Customers rave about the standout flavors, with recommendations particularly for the spicy Calabrese pizza, which has won over even those who don't typically indulge in pizza. The ambience, though occasionally lively and bustling, adds to the lively Italian dining experience. While the staff's limited English may challenge some, it provides a charming opportunity to practice your Italian.
Noteworthy is the exceptional value for money, with pizzas generally priced between €8-12, where one pizza suffices for a satisfying meal. The service is generally prompt and friendly, creating a welcoming environment that makes you feel at home. Overall, Pizzeria Gallo d'Oro is a delightful spot that guarantees a memorable pizza experience in Cagliari.

Reviews for Pizzeria Gallo d'Oro
Review highlights
Based on 1,526 reviewsPizzeria Gallo d'Oro is widely praised for its authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a flavorful variety of toppings. Customers consistently highlight the friendly and attentive service, although language barriers may arise as not all staff speak English. The restaurant’s intimate and often busy setting creates a lively atmosphere, with many recommending advance reservations due to limited seating. Beyond pizza, guests appreciate the tasty pasta options and reasonable pricing, noting that portions are generally ample. While the ambiance can be a bit noisy, it does not detract significantly from the overall dining experience.
The pizzas are really good with fresh ingredients and perfect neapolitan dough. You should definitely book a table in advance if you want to have dinner there, as the restaurant is quite small and without a reservation they can only offer you a small table in the front room at the counter. The staff is friendly but they do not speak any english, so be prepared to practice your italian small talk vocabulary.
Excellent place to dine in, good service and tasty pasta worth the price. I highly recommend this place.
The pizza was really good. I do not eat pizza so often but the pizza was the best among I have tried in Cagliari. The service was super nice. The atmosphere felt a bit noisy but was not a big issue.
Good good, big variety. I totally recommend the spice one called Calabrese. Nice people working there.
AMAZING PIZZA! Opens at 8pm and gets busy reasonable quickly but a speedy turn around. fast and helpful service. Some staff members speak English also which is helpful. Prices around €8-12 and one pizza is more than enough!
The Pizzas are very delicious and especially the dough is kind of special compared to most pizzas:)) also the carbonara is delicious and really like in rome where its famous for:)) The staff is very friendly and also fast even if the restaurant is full! I reccomend to make a reservation:))
Great big pizza napoletana with option of VEGAN / lactose free Mozzarella!
Very nice, locals love this place too. I was brought here several times by my Sardinian colleagues. Very good pizzas. You can also ask for a cheese filling (pecorino or a lighter cheese) on the corner of the pizza.
